NEIMME: Young Engineers

Hello and welcome to the web page of the Young Engineers of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers.

The aim of the Young Engineers is to represent the members of the NEIMME who are under the age of 30, giving them an opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns at a professional level. If you are under 30 and a member of the NEIMME or the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in the North East of England then you are automatically a member of the NEIMME Young Engineers.

If you would like to become a member of NEIMME please click here to find out about the different levels of membership and about how to apply.

What are the Benefits of being a Member?
Membership of the Young Engineers provides an opportunity for young people to meet like-minded colleagues with whom they can develop friendships on both a professional and personal level. Furthermore the Young Engineers provide an opportunity to make and maintain contacts early in your career.

The Young Engineers run a full and active programme of social and charity events, often these are linked with other groups of young professionals in the region, including the Junior Organisation of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MATRICS) and the Young Solicitors.

If you would like to find out more about the Young Engineers please contact us.

Members are in a position to voice their professional opinions and concerns and make suggestions on how improvements can be made to the services provided by the NEIMME.

The Young Engineers also aim to recruit and maintain members and promote the industry.

Guidance on the road to becoming Chartered
The status of 'chartered' within the IoM3 is becoming increasingly difficult to attain. Members of the Young Engineers can not only seek assistance from their peers, they are also in the position to call upon the depth of experience and knowledge from already Chartered and established professionals in the region.

If you're interested in getting involved with the Young Engineers or would like to come along to one of our events please email us at librarian@mininginstitute.org.uk
