THORP AND YOUNG LAMP.

CONSTRUCTION.
This lamp is most easily described as a Davy gauze inside a Boty lamp.
Gauzes. Both gauzes are of iron 28 mesh.
Burner. 1/4 ins. round wick fitted with a safety device of a ratchet form
which extinguishes the flame on unscrewing the oil vessel.
Lock. Bolt and rivet.
Air enters at the bottom of the outer gauze, passes down inside the glass, through the inner gauze to the flame. This is augmented by air inlet channels at the base of the glass, cut in the bottom ring.
