HISTORICAL NOTE.
This was patented by Dr. Glover and J. Cail in 1852. The gauze and chimney are somewhat like the Mueseler and Boty types. The patent covered the method of air inlet, the idea being to separate the incoming air and the flame by a glass so as to get improved ventilation, steadiness of flame and better candle power. The chimney further prevents the entry of air from the gauze, the inside of the lamp being for rising air currents only.
