No. 40.
DONALD LAMP. 
Made by Mills, Newcastle upon Tyne.
CONSTRUCTION.
The lamp consists of a 28 mesh iron gauze, with cap, enclosed within a glass and bonnet.
Air inlet is through holes in the bottom ring, thence through the gauze to the flame.
Lock. Padlock or rivet.
Burner. ? ins flat wick 
Dismantling by the bottom ring. 
HISTORICAL NOTE.
Donald was for many years chief lamp maker in the firm of Mills and Son, Newcastle and this lamp was very popular, particularly in Northumberland and Durham.

This lamp is very similar to No. 40, the only noteworthy difference being the position of the air inlet holes and the screw lock.
