BOTY LAMP.
Presented by Christopher Heap.
CONSTRUCTION.
Gauze. Iron 28 mesh slightly tapered towards the top. (typical of early
Continental lamps.)
Glass. 2 ? ins diameter. 11/2 ins high. 1/4 ins thick.
Burner. 1/4 ins round wick.
Lock. Screw - obliquely through oil vessel.
Standards. 6 round the glass.
4 round the gauze.
The air intake is through a series of very small holes in a thin copper ring which supports the glass. It was found in practice that these air inlet holes easily choked with dust, in which case the air inlet had to come from the bottom of the gauzes as in a Clanny
HISTORICAL NOTE.
